Rory McIlroy
The World No 1 was in the middle of a BBC television interview when the Neil Diamond song 'Sweet Caroline' was played over the public address system at halftime.
McIlroy responded by smiling sheepishly, looking down at the ground and exclaiming: "Oh dear".
The Northern Irishman was engaged to former World No 1 tennis player Caroline Wozniacki, but broke off the engagement this past May.
While his love life may not have been firing on all cylinders in 2014, his golf game certainly was.
McIlroy picked up two more major victories later in the year, the Open Championship at Royal Liverpool and the PGA Championship in Kentucky.
He also won his maiden WGC event at the Bridgestone Invitational in-between those two major triumphs.
The 25-year-old is having some time off before returning to competitive golf in the new year.
"I'm in my off-season so I can enjoy myself, enjoy my Christmas dinner and have a few drinks," he said.
