BRG Championship 2014 - Overall Champion - Dam Thanh Vinh |
Chuc Mung Nam Moi! Welcome to the Year of the Goat! On behalf of the Board of Management and the entire staff here at Kings’ Island, we wish you health, happiness and a year full of great golf !
Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to formally introduce myself, I am Evans Mahoney your new Director of Golf. I have taken over this past month from Mr. Jamie and hope to meet you all, very soon. I am a Certified Class “A” Canadian PGA Professional and have been the DoG for the BRG Group at Do Son Seaside Golf Resort for the past 4 ½ years in Hai Phong. My history as a PGA Professional extends all the way back to 1999 where I have worked at numerous private facilities, served on the PGA Board of Directors and have competed professionally in Canada and abroad at the professional level. I hope to bring my years of experience and expertise to continue the development of your golf experience here at Kings’ Island.

The maintenance team will be performing regular scheduled maintenance practices daily along with coring of both MV & LS and making some capital improvements to some green complexes this year. In an effort to minimize disruption on course, the Board of Management has approved the renovation of 2 green complexes at a time until all 6 have been completed. The renovation schedule is as follows:
Monday March 9th – Rebuild #3 & #9 greens on MV – Re-Opening approx. June 10th
We apologize in advance for the disruption this will cause, but every action will be taken to ensure you have 18 holes to play and to ensure a better Kings’ Island in the future.
With over 80,000 annual rounds of golf being played along with caddy and buggy traffic the turf suffers and me must take the necessary steps to ensure future success. With that coring of the entire MV course is scheduled for April 6th-8th and LS following from the 20th to 22nd.
Our efforts to make Kings’ Island your best golf experience doesn’t stop with the course. We are making continued efforts to service you better with better trained and equipped staff and improved menu choices. I hope this is soon reflected through out the course. Also, for those playing the past month have noticed the new lockers being installed in the men’s locker room. In fact, this year we will be renovating the entire men’s and ladies locker room decor, shower, Jacuzzi and sauna areas. Also 20 new E-Z-GO buggies will arrive in the late spring for your use. We have received approval on a new boat dock design and the addition of a new shoe spraying complex. It is all these efforts that we are continually investing in to make your golf better!
Lastly, 2015 is a very big year for the BRG Group as we launch the Legend Hill Golf Resort in Soc Son. Legend Hill is the very first Jack Nicklaus Design in the country and will be opening this summer! Legend Hill features the true design genius of the Nicklaus Design Groups and will feature “twin greens” effectively two courses! Stay tuned for more special “sneak peaks” at what we believe will be one of Vietnams finest course yet!
Yours in golf,
Evans Mahoney
