After a long cold, wet and miserable winter in which we recorded approximately 10 hours of sunshine in the first 10 weeks of the year the weather now is finally started to warm up which means it’s the right time of the year to do our bi-annually course maintenance renovations. During the month of April we will be coring/aerating and verti-cutting greens, tees and fairways on both the Lakeside and Mountainview courses.
Greens Coring Dates
Lakeside: 3rd & 4th April
Mountainview:16th & 17th April
After the greens are cored it will take approximately 2 weeks for the greens to recover back to a quality playing surface. The maintenance team apologizes in advance for any inconvenience to your game during this period but it is necessary to carry out these maintenance practices to keep both courses in pristine condition all year round.
Also during over the next 3 months we will be rebuilding the 4th Green on the Lakeside course. The green will be made larger and reshaped to add more of a challenge to your putting skills. Greenside bunkers will also be added to test your approach shots into the green.
The green will take approximately 4 weeks to construct and then another 8 to 10 weeks to grow-in before it will be playable. During the time of construction and grown-in the hole will be played with a temporary green approximately 50 yards from the existing green.
We would also like to take this time to mention that Kings’ Island has recently invested nearly $400,000 USD in their commitment to improve course conditions and keep a high standard of quality for the future. The equipment has arrived late March and will be put to use immediately. We look forward to the challenges ahead and are excited to see the outcome of the hard work we put in to maintain a 5 star golf course.
