Bill Haas and Justin Rose will take a share of the lead into the third round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Tied at the top: Bill Haas
Haas produced an impressive round of 66 to join first round leader Rose at the top of the leaderboard after the Englishman dropped two shots en route to a second round 70.
Tiger Woods, who can regain the world number one ranking should he successfully defend his title at Bay Hills this week, seemed destined for the top of the leaderboard halfway through his second round, but had to card a 70 after three consecutive bogeys on the last three holes.
Four time major winner Phil Mickelson and Brandt Snedeker are the two notable absentees going in the third round after both players missed the cut. Mickelson produced and error-laden round of 79, which included two triple bogeys, while Snedeker closed out his second round with a double and triple bogey.
Rose started his second round well and picked up four strokes early on to shoot up the standings, but bogeys on the 14th and 18th set him back somewhat. Haas produced a flawless round, which included four birdies and was capped by a glorious eagle at the 16th.
In second place, one stroke behind the leaders on eight under par is John Huh, who fired a 69 which featured only one bogey and birdies on the fifth, seventh, 17th and 18th.
Woods started the round in good form with a birdie on the first and an eagle on the sixth, followed by two more birdies at the 11th and 13th, before being pegged back.
The world number two finished on five under, one stroke behind Ken Duke, Jimmy Walker and JJ Henry in a three-way tie for fourth.
Mickelson has been in inconsistent form of late, winning at Phoenix before missing the cut at Bay Hills.
The three-time Masters winner admitted after the round that he needs to work on his game with the event at Augusta National only three weeks away.
"Obviously, I played terrible, and I deserved to shoot a score like this," the southpaw said after his round.
"I'm glad I played because had I showed up in Houston and had this happen I wouldn't have had an opportunity to get in the competition. I'll go work with Butch and see if I can get dialed in for Houston."
